GONE
TO EARTH - ARCHIVE NEWS
August 2005-
Hi all, Toby and Paul are now living in sunny Melbourne, Dave
has remained in Adelaide so at this stage the chances of much
happening are zero as we are all busy with various projects etc.
The future is a strange thing though so who know's...this is just
another chapter in the merry-go ride which is Gone to Earth.
We
still get a lot of request's from people trying to source our
c.d's so if you're after one of them contact us via email, more
info is on the discography page.
June 2004- Hi all,
it's been a while so here's the latest, over the next few weeks
expect a pile of new gigs and more new's on this that and the
other...music's a big part of our live's so for something different
here's
what we've been listening to...
NEW
TUNES : The band has been experimenting
with a batch of new songs. Most of these new offerings will be
performed at the Jade Monkey show ( check gig guide ). The set
list will most likely be an equal offering of album tracks and
new material. The new tracks being.....

TOBY
WITH LIAM GERNER:
Toby has been keeping the drum seat warm
for Liam Gerner, and will do both performances at the Jade Monkey
show. Oh...the boys much in demand. Apparently Nickelback wanted
his services, but he just couldn't get that mullet happening ?
Good thing really!
PAUL
WITH DAVID BRIDIE:
Paul recently performed with David Bridie
at the Regal Tent for the Adelaide Festival. Many thanks to all
who came along for the performance.
DAVID:
David's been busy learning how to knit.
Watch out for a new range of Gone to Earth knitwear available
at an Ed Harry Menswear near you...

Duffy
Tribute CD : Looks like the Stephen
Duffy tribute album is finally seeing the light of day. For those
of you who don't know, Duffy was the original singer for Duran
Duran but went on to do his own thing and has a huge cult following
around the world. Here is a picture of the album
cover. For more info visit www.poprenaissance.com
Here's
a piccie of GTE outside of "Jive" in Hindley Street.
Thanks Rachel!

the Adelaide opening of " Club Acoustica " at the Rhino Room on
Thursday September 4th. Other artists performing will be... Jodi
Martin ( Sydney ) The Yearlings ( Adelaide ) plus Special Guests.
Paul
performs with David Bridie: Paul performed
with David Bridie at the Governor Hindmarsh last month as a part
of David's " 100 Flower's in Bloom " tour. An amazing show. David
has a new CD out titled " Hotel Radio ". David is one of the greats
of Australian music.
Mark
Seymour Show: We had a great time opening
for Mark Seymour. Apologies to those who could'nt get tickets,
as the show was sold out well in advanced. For those who saw the
show, many thanks for the positive feedback. Mark and band were
fantastic. A great bloke and a mighty performer.
Duffy
Tribute CD & Pop Shoppe: The Stephen Duffy
/ Lilac Time tribute is almost ready for release. The band recorded
a version of Stephen's " Sugar High ". The CD will be released
through Pop Renaissance Records. www.poprenaissance.com
Speaking
of Pop Renaissance records. The label is releasing a Summer compilation
in the U.S. called " Pop Shoppe ". This compilation will include
the GTE track " Animal Core "
Touring:
Many have asked ( again ? ) when we will
be playing live again. The band will definitely be doing some
shows around Adelaide in the very near future, and we are currently
looking at getting into Melbourne and Sydney. Importance must
be placed at the moment on getting the album released nationally
as well as airplay. Triple J's Super Request is a good place to
start, so if you want to hear the band on the airwaves, please
feel free to vote for us.
May
2003-
Jem
Cole is a U.K artist who drew the artwork
which graces the front of the "Semaphore" cover. Check
out more examples of his fine work.
"Shock
records"
will be distributing the new album, we hope to have it officially
released and in shops over the next few weeks.
"Everybody
wants to believe"
is an old GTE track which was on "V". A german record
label has decided they like it and will add it to a compilation
which showcases new Australian music. More details soon.
The
Lilac Time tribute CD:
We are currently recording a song for the upcoming Stephen Duffy
/ The Lilac Time tribute CD being released in the U.S. Our chosen
tune, the dreamy pop closet classic " Sugar High " will make it's
way over the Pacific at the end of the week. You can check out
the contributions from all the other fine bands at....... www.poprenaissance.com
March 2003-

BRAND NEW ALBUM 'SEMAPHORE' NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE <buy

MAKING
THE ALBUM 'SEMAPHORE'-
To quote an old "Hollies" song from the 60's...."the
road is long... with many a winding turn". Well it's felt
that way, but this month see's the fruit of our labours. Our first
full length release (sounds a tad saucy)...? <read

FILMCLIP
FOR 'FIREPROOF'- We were approached by an
eager young man wanting to shoot a filmclip with us. Darrell Bockman
met with us and we arranged to shoot the clip at an Adelaide cigar
lounge and the Lion Arts centre. We didn't realise just how many
times we'd perform the song. Well... ....it felt like 645 times.
Nevertheless it was an enjoyable shoot. Thanks Darrell...!! <"Fireproof"

'CLUB
ACOUSTICA 2' COMPILATION C.D. Late last
year GTE were asked to perform at Sydney's legendary 'Basement'
as part of the 'Club Acoustica' sessions. We stripped the band
(musically speaking) to it's bare bones and did a sort of 'unplugged'
set. There are plans to release the the 'Club Acoustica 2' c.d.
GTE will contribute 'Perfect Face' to the compilation. We'll keep
you informed when more news comes to hand.
THE
ARTWORK TO 'SEMAPHORE'- A while back we
received an e-mail by U.K based artist Jem Cole. Jem stumbled
across our music while on holiday in Australia and approached
us to put forth some of his work for our first album. After seeing
his illustrations we agreed immediately that it would compliment
our music. Coles brilliant work is distinctively original. Incidentally
Jems medium over this period consisted of a lonely black biro.
We had the difficult task of choosing from 80 drawings. We will
be posting some of this work over the next few weeks.
NEW
MATERIAL- The band is now working on quite
a few new songs. We aim to roadtest them in the upcoming live
shows, before going into the studio again. The next album won't
take us the 4 years it took to release 'Semaphore'. The new songs
are still being tinkered with in our backyard shed. Hope this
winter is kind to us as the roof needs replacing.
